Design To Connect User Journey for Real Estate Purchasing & Leasing

We exceeded expectations by catering experiences to individuals and segments of customers

Buying a home is a huge decision for most people, and the emotions are high with all kind of choices, decisions, and posible blocks. Where, when, how much, can I afford, how to apply, how to bid, how to negotiate etc. etc., Home Partners of America is the answers for all the questions including finance when potential home buyers don't have the budget to buy right away. Whether the home buyers plan to buy or rent - or need more time to decide - the programs offer the power to choose what's best for the home buyers.

Home Partners of America introduced an entirely new way for people to get into quality single-family homes with up-front, locked-in pricing and the power to rent, buy, or walk away. They continue this innovation through partnerships and initiatives that help our residents access and enjoy quality homes.

My Role

As the Product Lead, Designer and researcher of the team, I collaborated with Product Management, real estate agent team, data team and off-shore engineering team to create the new product and define the business strategy at the intersection of user needs and business goals.

2. Research & Brainstorming

This is about calculating ROI and margin, there are lots of factors need to be considered. And the mathematical model of profit and cost is critical on adjust price for applicants.

Design

1. Wireframes and Mockups

I created wireframe and mockups based on prioritized feature/functionality list and used design thinking to solve the root cause.

2. Design and utilize AI to generate the best outcome, for example the Individual Fit on Homepage Hero

Scenario: You have different types of design cycling through the home page hero and you want:

  • Every audience (no matter how big or small) to be served relevant content.
  • To maximize engagement.
  • To learn which factors influence decisioning most for each variant post-fact.
  • Run machine learning engine with click-through selected as the goal metric.

3. Mockups, Prototype & User Testing

I created mockups and interactive prototypes. This demonstrated not only the interface, but also the interaction and the navigation flow. I then put the prototype in front of users and stakeholders for usability testing and feedback. Finally, I refined the design.

4. Use A/B testing tool to compare different designs for enhancements

I worked with developers in the Agile team on day to day bases to code the design into iOS and Android apps.

Release

We released the mobile app to iOS App Store and Android Google Play, and executed on the roll-out plan to the end users.

Meaningful interactions with each individual at any moment across all touchpoints using everything known about them: 75% lift on bounce rate.

Revenue

Personalized experience encourage purchase by recommending the most relevant products to the individuals: 17% lift.

Conversion

Personalized recommendations max the conversion by surfacing the most relevant content to the individuals: 23% lift.
